How do I know if I'm buying a genuine Varta battery in Dubai or a fake one? (10 อ่าน)

Hi everyone, so this is something that has been on my mind ever since I had a conversation with a mechanic friend of mine who told me that the UAE market has a real problem with counterfeit batteries being sold under well known brand names and honestly that caught me completely off guard because I never thought about that being a thing here. I've been shopping around for a new battery for my Toyota Land Cruiser and Varta keeps coming up as one of the more reliable options for this kind of vehicle in extreme heat, but now I'm second guessing every place I look at because I genuinely don't know how to tell the difference between a legitimate product and something that just has the right logo on it. A colleague of mine said he bought what he thought was a premium battery from a random shop last year and it failed within eight months which is just unacceptable for the price he paid, and he suspects it wasn't genuine at all. After doing quite a bit of searching I found that going through a Varta Authorized Battery Supplier Dubai is really the only way to be completely sure you're getting the real product with the actual warranty backing it, rather than just taking someone's word for it at a shop that could be selling anything. What I want to understand better is what the authorization actually means in practical terms, like does it mean the batteries come directly from the manufacturer, and is there a way to verify the authenticity of the product yourself once you have it in hand? I'd also love to know if anyone has had experience with warranty claims on Varta batteries here in Dubai and whether the process was straightforward or a complete headache when something actually went wrong.
