Leading a team in the Indian Premier League goes beyond basic leadership capabilities. Under pressure conditions, leadership creates success for particular captains yet produces failure in other leaders. The captains Ravindra Jadeja (CSK 2022) and George Bailey (PBKS) both made disadvantageous team-related choices that damaged their teams through ineffective leadership. Since a bad IPL captain fails to effectively inspire his players and interpret game conditions, he also faces difficulties with leading the team. This study investigates the distressed conduct of the IPL leadership and examines how their flawed leadership decisions have generated severe performance failures in league history.
