How do you target high-intent users with finance ads? (16 อ่าน)

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and figured I’d throw it out here. Finance ads sound great on paper, but when you actually run them, it feels like half the clicks are just people browsing or killing time. I kept asking myself how others are actually finding users who mean business, not just curious readers.
The biggest pain point for me was wasted traffic. I’d get clicks, sometimes even decent CTRs, but no real action. No signups, no leads worth following up on. It honestly made me question whether finance ads attract serious users at all or if I was just doing something wrong. Talking to a few peers, it sounded like a common issue.
What I slowly realized is that intent isn’t only about targeting big finance keywords. I tried broad terms at first, thinking more volume would help. It didn’t. People clicking on general finance topics were mostly early stage. They were reading, learning, or comparing, not ready to act. When I narrowed things down to more specific problems like loans for a reason or investment tools for a certain goal, things started to shift a bit.
Another thing I tested was timing and placement. I noticed that ads shown around content where people were already thinking about money decisions performed better. For example, ads next to articles about budgeting mistakes or trading risks felt more natural and less intrusive. I also stopped expecting instant conversions. Some users clicked once, disappeared, then came back days later. That helped me stop panicking too early.
I won’t pretend everything worked. Some targeting options sounded smart but didn’t convert at all. A few platforms sent traffic that looked good in numbers but felt empty in quality. What helped was looking at patterns instead of single results. If a group of users spent more time on the page or visited twice, I treated that as a small win.
One thing that gave me clarity was reading through different approaches to finance ads and how others filter intent without overcomplicating it. I came across this page on finance ads while digging around, and it helped me rethink how I match ad messaging with user mindset rather than just chasing clicks.
At the end of the day, I think high intent comes from relevance and patience more than clever tricks. Finance users don’t rush decisions, and ads shouldn’t expect them to. If you respect that, results slowly improve.
