<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Moving a two-wheeler to another city does not always require riding it for hundreds of kilometres. Indian Railways offers a luggage and parcel booking facility that can make long-distance bike transportation a practical option, depending on route availability and applicable railway rules.

Before booking Bike Transportation by Train, understand the difference between luggage and parcel services. If you are travelling on the same train as your bike, you can generally enquire about booking it as luggage. If you are not travelling with the vehicle, parcel booking may be an option. Availability, procedures, and charges depend on the route and railway regulations.

Preparing your bike correctly is an important part of the process. Visit the relevant railway parcel office to confirm packing standards, fuel-removal instructions, required documents, booking timings, and collection procedures. Keep your bike's registration certificate, identity proof, and booking receipt ready. Follow the railway's instructions for draining fuel and securing the vehicle before transportation.

The cost of transporting a bike by train may depend on the distance, vehicle weight, applicable railway rates, and packing charges. Do not rely on a fixed online estimate without confirming the amount with the railway booking office. Also, ask about the expected arrival schedule and the time allowed for collecting the vehicle.

Once the bike reaches its destination, inspect it carefully before taking delivery. Check the body panels, mirrors, lights, tyres, and other visible parts. If you notice damage, report it to the railway authorities promptly and follow the prescribed claim procedure.

For people who prefer pickup and delivery assistance, road-based transportation can also be considered. MoveMyCar can help you explore bike transportation options and compare suitable services based on your route, convenience, and budget.
